The VanLandingham family comes to us from the Midway Baptist Church of Cairo, GA where Brother Tim served as pastor for over four years.  Bro. Tim is a transplanted native of Cairo, having been born at Ft. Benning, GA at the end of his Mom’s military service.  His Dad served in the Air Force for a number of years so moving around was a part of their life until His Dad’s retirement in 1971.  At that time, his family moved to his Mom and Dad’s hometown of Cairo.  Bro. Tim professed his faith in Christ and followed in Believer’s Baptism at Gordon Heights Baptist Church in Cairo at the age of 12.

Bro. Tim graduated from Cairo High School in 1981, then studied at Thomas College in Thomasville, GA, and Mercer University in Macon, GA.  He earned his Master of Divinity degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, LA in 1989.  During those years, he served churches working in children’s and youth ministries in Cairo, Georgia; Columbia, Alabama; and New Orleans.

Mrs. Brenda is a Norman Park, GA native having graduated from Norman Park High School in 1976.  She professed her faith in Christ and followed in Believer’s Baptism at First Baptist Church of Norman Park at the age of 9.  She attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, GA and graduated from Valdosta State University, Valdosta, GA with a degree in early childhood education.  Seeing the need to temper her degree with Christian education, she earned her Masters of Religious Education degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1983.  Mrs. Brenda taught kindergarten for eleven years in the Colquitt County school system.

When Bro. Tim accepted the pastorate of Southside Baptist of Norman Park, he was a single young man.  God tremendously blessed him with a beautiful wife (the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. David Stokes) and the two enjoy ministry together and as a family.  Their desire is that God will use their family to save and disciple.  Mrs. Brenda serves as our pianist and sings in the choir.

Bro. Tim and family built a home in Cairo some years ago and live there.  He was away from his hometown for twenty-two years and never thought of returning, but God had His own plans for the VanLandinghams.  The family has enjoyed their home and also enjoys living part-time in Pavo in the pastorium.

Bro. Tim works part-time at The UPS Store in Thomasville as well.  Though he is technically considered a “bivocational” pastor, he shares that one really cannot say he is a “part-time pastor”.  When you love the Lord, you serve Him full-time.

The VanLandinghams have three teenagers, all of whom are homeschooled and all of whom have professed Christ as Savior:  David, Hannah, and Rebekah.  David lends his skills as Media Director at Pavo and the ladies enjoy singing in the choir and serving wherever needed.

Prior to serving at Midway, Bro. Tim served as pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church of Valdosta, GA for almost seven years, and the Southside Baptist Church of Norman Park, GA for more than ten years.  As we are obedient to our Lord’s direction, He will bless the life and ministry of Pavo Baptist Church.  May we be a lighthouse for our Lord in this town and around the world as Acts 1:8 instructs us.
